Hi, Yesterday I purchased some models which must be for the older version of FPSC which have FPI scripts rather than LUA so they're not working correctly. They're character models and weapon models - paid $40.00 for them so not exactly cheap. I know you can import your own models into GameGuru and get them working - so my question would be - what would be the best way for me to get these cahracter/weapon models working in GameGuru? I tried attaching the standard weapon script to the weapons, which allowed me to pick them up and fire them - but using iron sights made the model disappear, and the crosshair was just a black box. The character models - I attempted to attach the solder.lua script to the model but the enemies just goofed around, and didn't actually make contact with the floor - and killing them just made them crouch.
FPS Creator Model Packs are available on The Game Creator's website. List of Model Packs for FPS.
XD Any help or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.:) Cheers, RainKing. I can't use the stuff i bought for FPSC? I think that's something you need to add to GameGuru: compatibility with FPSC stuff.
I had bought stuff in the FPSC store, which i want to be able to use. This includes bond1's commando boss character, which i need in my GameGuru level. It uses custom animations and AI, and not the FPSC standard ones. And then we have all the fantasy weapons i bought, which also were made by bond1. And all the model packs i had bought, were those a waste of money? FPS Creator doesn't work on newer computers. It is not that easy.
Yes you can bring stuff in, but there is a number of factors to consider. First, the biped's back then are not the same ones used today, no ware close, todays have less bones and a different weighting factor.
So that is obsticle number one. This task usually is performed by someone who does this every day. I takes time to learn the theory, and months of practice to get your work flow going. Obsticle number two.replacing the old animation with the new. No problem for some one who does this every day. There are rules on retargeting, for error prevention, Both bipeds have to be prepared to do this.
These are not easy tasks to even explain to a person who has never done it. Character Creator will make this task common place for you. Make your character creating easy and swappable. But it is a do all module intended for ease of use, and must be tested in all situation, before it is release, to let you all throw 1000 of old and aquired character models at it. I can rig and convert these assets, now, but each can take up to even a week to get all the kinks out. So this so call automatically should have had request is not resonable, as even the best model and animation programs have to do this also and run into some issues them selves.
It will take a bit to get the kinks out. Even when somebody asks me if I can import there character, I tell them probably, but can not and will not say that 100% of all charaters in the world are convertable. No I will not. I have 10 in a folder from the last 5 years from 146 characters I have converted for people over the coarse of this program and it prediceeser. That just dont work.
Most of those older packs where made by community members, and no specific standards where use. So issues will arise. Hope that answers the questions and requests a little better.
Sorry to hear there is an issue with this. Could you please link me to where TGC said the models would work with FPS Creator Reloaded without the need of conversion? The models will need to be converted for use with GameGuru and then not all will work even after the conversion. This was made clear by TGC despite what else you may have heard.
FPS Creator however still works perfectly on windows 7 and 8 ( i currenly use it myself on windows 8 ) with administartor right on which maybe good news for you. Most static models will work with minor adjustment in GameGuru and many have been very happy this is even possible. I can't show you, because the page doesn't exist anymore.: ( It existed back when it was possible to be a pledger, and when it was called FPS Creator Reloaded.
Yeah, i tried to add some models, and they worked. And i didn't even need to do any adjustments.
^^ But i'm so sad all those cool bond1 model packs won't work. That chainsaw zombie guy would've been amazing to have, and the lobotomy guy. Not to forget the tank. And all the fantasy weapons i bought from bond1 (and the ones in Model Pack 18), which is so much cooler than the ones included in GameGuru. Agreed bond1 packs were amazing but many of them required his own custom shaders and other modifications in so even if the standard TGC packs did work 100%.chances are Bond1's probably would not. Dont be so downhearted though. There are big plans ahead and with the talent i have seen here so far it wont be long before more custom models and characters are available.
Regarding the models you say do work out of the box.I still highly recommend renewing the FPE files as there are a lot of new commands and paths like ' forcesimpleobstacle = 3 ' which enables characters to chase you into buildings. Just copy a GameGuru building Fpe file and add the details of the imported model to it.Then save it as the new one. Stick with us you wont be disappointed.

Didnt found my thread. But One mod say no problem. Another one stated only tgc models are completely free and can be use with other game engines. Other packs need to be confirmed with the artist.
(That free packs consists from tgc and third party) This is how I always understand the terms. Any product from tgc will always be completely free and can be use with other game engines, while others need permission from the artists even if you bought it from their store. Another is here from steam This is from Lee at steams ' Lee Bamber.@Teabone: I have only sought permission from the artists to open source their FPS Creator Classic Model Packs as is, so you are correct to seek permission from third party artists before converting and redistributing them for use in GameGuru. That said, TGC owned a lot of the packs and I hereby grant permission to convert all TGC owned FPSC model packs and distribute them for free on the forums (though not through the asset store or through some paid-for collection).
I add my thanks to that of the community for grinding through the conversions! One of the problems I had is the large number of animations that are numbered but not identified by name. Took me hours to find what I wanted.
Oh yeah that was a pain in the butt. What made it easier for me was putting this in a text file then importing it with Leadwerks Model Editor.
